Selling an eBook or any digital product online doesn't have to be as discouraging as it appears. Yes, you too, the non-technical user/seller can sell your own digital products online without the help of any external companies. You don't need to pay monthly fees to have your downloadable products sold for you. You can do it yourself, right from your own server.

How the Business of Downloadable products work

You see, when customers purchase a downloadable merchandise online, they want it ASAP, like, right now! And the only way most businesses deal with this is to pay an external online company to help them provide this instantaneous delivery of electronic downloadable products. The company that they hire for this job will create a process in which the electronic product being sold is automatically made available for the customer, upon payment.

But here's where the problem lies.

These online companies know the vulnerability involved in the selling of digital downloads. They know most people aren't programmers and therefore will take advantage of that weakness by instituting ridiculous payment plans that are woefully unnecessary. They are fully aware that you lack in knowledge as to the workings of the backend process of web programming, and as a result are at the mercy of their whims. Therefore, they will charge you an arm and a leg for something they shouldn't be charging you for.

Instead of having you pay just one flat and final fee for their services, they'll tantalize you with colorful reasons as to why you should continue to pay them monthly for it. Other companies are even bold enough to take a percentage of every downloadable sale that you make using their service, in addition to the monthly payments they charge. Since you don't know any better, you consider these payments or deductions the "cost of doing business" when in reality, it is not. It is the cost of being uninformed.

Now, I don't know about you, but most people I know, when they go online to start a business, they want to make as much money as possible. And if you're one of those suckers who are actually shelling out money on a monthly basis for others to help them sell your downloadable products, let this be an eye-opening warning:

You Don't Have to Do That! It is a complete waste of money.

Yes, I know that some of you deliberately choose to pay to have your downloadable products sold for you because you have absolutely no programming skills or knowledge and you prefer someone else to do the work for you. Understood. But, you still are being ripped off. If you don't care to save or keep most of purchase price that a customer pays for your downloadable digital products, then, this article is definitely NOT for you.

You see, there was a time I use to dream about being able to automatically sell my own downloads. But back then, it was just a dream, a wish, a fantasy. I had an eBook to sell, but was discouraged by the amount of work I discovered was necessary in order to make that happen. PayPal, the most trusted payment system, unfortunately, doesn't provide a simple way for its users/merchants to sell downloadable products. And being the extremely busy person that I am, I gave up trying to figure out how to do it on my own. I still sold my downloadable eBooks online, but I had no choice but to do so manually, which was painstakingly time consuming.

To provide my customers with the INSTANT download that I had promised them on my Buy Now page, I had to stay glued to the computer and watch for new orders. When the new orders arrived, I had to quickly email each customer their product one by one. This was unimaginably cumbersome, as I'm sure you can already envision.

After months of doing this, I realized if I am to remain in this online business of selling downloadable merchandise, I was going to have to figure out something efficient and make it free. I just simply could not continue to manually email my customers their products anymore since sales were rapidly increasing and it would have been a gargantuan task for one person. This gave me the incentive to surge forward in my desire to automate the process.

I dug deep into my seasoned knowledge of programming and decided to write my own utility. It took a few weeks to design, write and finish the code for it but when it was completed, it was indeed a thing of beauty. It worked perfectly.

After each payment is confirmed with PayPal, the program I wrote verifies that a customer has made a payment, and then automatically sends the downloadable product that the customer bought, to the customer's email address. In addition to all that, this program stores information about each order in a safe un-hackable location on my web server. Then it sends me an informational email about the order for record keeping so that I'm aware of every transaction initiated by customers.

The information I get after each new order are:

a. Customer's Full Name

b. Customer's Email Address

c. Name of product that was purchased

d. Receipt number of the product

e. Date and Time of Day that the Product was Purchased

This is all the information any merchant would need to know about his or her downloadable products for future references.

Like you, all I want to do is sell digital downloadable products. I hate complexities. I hate third party shenanigans and I hate having to pay someone else monthly fees or allowing them to take a percentage of every sale that I make with my eBook. I hate it all and this program took care of those concerns for me.

If you DO NOT want to pay reoccurring fees for some lunatic rip off website to sell your downloadable products for you, then, writing your own code, or getting someone to write a code for you, for one flat fee, is the way to go. It doesn't matter if you have 1 or 300 products to sell. That is completely irrelevant.

You just pay that one and only flat fee for your custom code and NEVER have to worry about any other payments...EVER!
